Note: Please don't read the part below about Senator McCain and stop to debate whether he is good or bad. The second part is a topic in itself, and discussion should be diverted towards the Party as a whole and not McCain. I've written this to discuss the possibility and view of an emerging Republican Party in the wake of, well, everything they've done and in some cases been caught doing. Thanks. Read More
it paints a suspiciously good looking future; it paints a future that the sitting administration will like to tell the public about; it seems to go against CW, as well as available literature, scholarly work; it is something you've heard before; no one reporting it appears on the article itself. (as of 9pm it was anonymous.)
So what's going on here? Do we have a Sec of State that doesn't know the definition of insurgency? Read More

So assuming the rioting French are mostly Arab Muslim. Could this be a problem not of a few youths getting killed running from the cops, but surfacing anger at a western government for its policies (the French) and what is perceived, by Muslims, as western aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan that aims to weaken the Arab world? Protestors protesting the deaths of two youths don't shout "It's Baghdad here" and "jihad" do they? That's somewhat odd. Of course a prominent politician publicly saying essentially, 'bring it on' doesn't work well in the Muslim world, but I sense that there is a bigger picture here. Some text below... Read More
Mr. Bush, why were you eating cake with Senator McCain on Monday the 29th and playing guitar with some country singer the next day?
So that pissed of some nutjob who posted this
What you are saying is not only untrue but absolutley idiotic. I know that your mind cannot be changed, but you would be wise to rethink your stance. The people who are leading this country in a dark direction, are secularist with no moral compass or backbone. People who refuse to stand up and fight terror. People who attack America instead of the real enemy. If you cannot define right and wrong, then who are you to say what we are doing is wrong. I, for one, am proud that we have a leader, who not only knows right from wrong, but who is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in. You can twist it and misrepresent it all you want, but in the long run, you will be on the wrong side of history.
That said, this is troubling, but an opportunity.

"My terminology for it is 'patriotism lite,' and that's what we're experiencing now in both political parties. The political leaders are afraid to ask the public for any real sacrifice, which doesn't speak too highly of the citizenry."
